History

Kim is the only trainer currently training to have trained the winners of Britain’s three biggest National Hunt races: the Grand National, Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle. He achieved this feat with three remarkable horses.

MASTER OATS
Sire: Oats
Dam: Miss Poker Face
Owner: Mr Paul Matthews
Major races won: Cheltenham Gold Cup, Rehearsal Chase, Welsh National, Pillar Chase

Race Record

Master Oats ran in 21 chases, winning 10 and being placed in another 5.  He won a total of £254,399 in prize money.  He was a big boat of a horse, especially when he was young, but as he aged he filled his frame and grew in strength.

Master Oats was a very kind horse who did not know how to do anything but give his all.  Tough but a little on the thick side.  He was a real gentleman.

ALDERBROOK
Sire: Ardross
Dam: Twine
Owner: Mr Ernie Pick
Major races won: Champion Hurdle, Scottish Champion Hurdle, Kingswell Hurdle, Levy Hurdle

Race Record

In all Alderbrook ran in 6 hurdle races.  One was for Sally Hall and the remaining 5 were for Kim.  He won a total of £155,773 on the flat and £193,505 over hurdles.  His National hunt race record reads 4 wins and one second (in the Champion Hurdle).  Not bad!!  He ran in 22 races on the flat winning 11 and being placed 6 times.  So with a race record like that it is not surprising that he has become such a hugely successful stallion.

This horse was special is so many ways.  He was incredibly tough, honest, laid back, relaxed and such a wonderful character.

MR FRISK

Owner: Mrs Duffey
Major races won: Grand National, Whitbread Gold Cup, Anthony Mildmay & Peter Cazelet Memorial Chase, Amateur Rose Bowl Chase (3 times)

Race Record

The Grand National is the most famous horse race in the world; so many stories have been written about this race and there is always a story behind the winner!  The race has such a fascinating history and great horses and people have won it, so you can imagine how lucky I feel to have trained a winner of this great race with Mr Frisk in.

Mr Frisk ran in a total of 38 races (all over fences), winning 18 and placed on 7 other occasions winning a total of £181,981 in prize money.

In his career he was ridden Alan Jones, Paul Croucher, Mark Perrett, Martin Lynch, Richard Dunwoody, Tim Thompson Jones (who suggested that he needed to learn how to jump!) Ronnie Beggan, Anthony Tory, Ian Lawrence and of course Marcus Armytage.
