1st May 2018

Minus one and frost on my windscreen that had to be scraped off before driving in. Welcome to May.

The forecasters got it wrong again yesterday.. we were meant to have been flooded by now.. Anyway they managed to get the temperatures right.. It was bloody cold and windy yesterday and here we are today..the first day of May (my favourite month) and frost to welcome us..

David Bass is away on his annual leave.. Jumping racing is having a week off.. yes it starts again on Saturday.

David will or should be back from Nico de Boinville’s stag week in Biarritz for Uttoxeter on Saturday.. I have to mention that Biarritz is not the sort of place I would have thought David Bass (Disco Dave) would normally frequent?.

Without him ths morning we worked Minella Warrior and Royal Supremo..

Helen Hibbert was here third lot to see her KBRP horses Milord and Chateau Robin.

Graham Potts our vet was in for hs Tuesday visit.

This week movers and shakers in the weekly BHA charts were..

Braw Angus down 4 to 100, Chateau Robin down 2 to 105, Milord down 3 to 107, Rhaegar down 2 to 118, Rosmuc Relay down 1 to 126, Trojan Star down 4 to 91, Wandrin Star up 1 to 110, Bandon Roc went up 4 to 119 while Cloone Lady enters at 117..

While you were all enjoying your Sunday roast we were supporting Annabel England who organised and ran the Cotswold Country Home Car Boot Sale & Family Dog Show held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support..

The weather was just about kind enough.. it was cold but mostly dry..Annabel and her team raised over £5000.00 on the day.. it was a huge success and great fun.. Loads of locals supported which is why Annabel wants to say thank you to those who helped..

''Despite the weather it was a fantastic day and I think I even managed to enjoy myself.  Sadly I didn’t get a chance to buy anything.  We made just over £5,000 all for Macmillan Cancer Support.

I would like to thank Karen von Speyr from Harrison James & Hardie. The Saddler family for sponsoring the bouncy castle and Elliot for manning it.

Jane Arnold and Patsy Shilling for the burgers and sausages.

Hereford racecourse for the rosettes, Phipps Feeds and Pet Necessities for the dog show prizes, Harry Phipps for delicious coffee, Will Spires for his booze bar, Dolly the face painter, everyone from Cheltenham racecourse including some of the medical team who helped out with parking, security, dog show and cooking and Simon Claisse for borrowing a few things from the racecourse and being there for me as always.

The Heythrop Hunt for the loan of Alice and Charlotte (Apple Charlotte catering) and Dotty Benson for slaving away in her and for their support and advice.

Becky Mills, Kerry Keown, Mathew Foxton-Duffy and Robert Llewellyn for the dog show and Maddie Webster and Will Arkell for art work, printing, social media advice and loads of other stuff.

David Parker, Blink and Leo for manning the entrance.

North Cotswold hunt supporters for tents, tables, tea urns and gas.

Vix Bowen Jones and the ladies who helped her provide tea and cake to hundreds (and all the cake bakers)!!

The Cotswold Farm Park for providing straw bales.  Everyone who took a car boot pitch (Simon Lawrence and Nell Bucker who manned Simon and mine) because without those guys it wouldn’t have worked. I know I have forgotten people so forgive.

To finish the tent blew over, loos got stuck but we made it''

Today would have been my father Ken's birthday...
