Plus 1 and dry when driving in.

I have to say I was slightly worried about the state of our life when the ITV news reader last night said temperatures were going to 'plummet to Minus 1' on occasions this week..!

These headlines summed up my Saturday mood..

Correct..I was far from amused, but the person who I felt sorriest for was Phil Andrews who had been so looking forward to seeing his horses run.

The Edgar Wallace was favourite for his abandoned race at Exeter on Friday, and then odds on favourite for his race at Ayr on Saturday.. Phil's other horse Those Tiger Feet was also favourite for his race.... and although TEW did not arrive at Exeter, he and TTF did have a long journey to Ayr on Friday..

On the other hand their jockey David Bass arrived at both meetings and was far from complimentary about the situation.....My quip that diesel was probably cheaper in Scotland did not go down well.

Sadly it is owners who bear the brunt of these racecourses playing dice with the weather gods.

There were plenty of remarks on twitter, but probably the most interesting was from the twitter feed of The Naming Game..

''The Edgar Wallace is a pub just off Fleet Street in London. Formerley the Essex Head, it was renamed in 1975 to commemorate the prolific crime writer Edgar Wallace's birth centenary. Many of Wallace's books had a racing theme.''

This set up a reply from Phil Andrews

''And a cracking pub it is too! Full of 50’s and 60’ memorabilia not to mention all of The Edgar Wallace books and most importantly a cracking pint. And that’s why I named my horse The Edgar Wallace ...''

Sunday..Yesterday

It was good to talk to Tocky McKie who said it is bloody wet in Northumberland. Reason for the call, bar catching up on an old friend was to discuss plans for a spring campaign for her mare Yeavering Belle..

Yes it was a day to catch up with owners and seeing that we are now heading towards the possibility of a tougher lockdown I restarted my weekly video..

Sadly rumours are rife that if we do go deeper into lockdown, racing will follow suit.. I really do hope not..

Sad news. Trainer Zoe Davison died  and then her yard had a double at Plumpton.. Tears and joy..A remarkable lady..

Monday morning an David Bass was in to ride work on Younervercall before heading off to Fakenham.. Where I hope he does not make it a treble.. of non racing attendances..

We jumped Younevercall, Imperial Aura, Two For Gold and Espoir De Romay..

El Presente returns to work this morning.. He has had a break since his great win in the Badger Beer Chase at Wincanton.. He is looking forward to a big spring campaign which hopefully will include running in the Bet 365 Chase.. For those old enough will recall it used to be called the Whitbread Gold Cup..

We have one runner today at Fakenham. Harde Fashion heads there.. It has not been a good course for me this season and I am keen to put the record straight..For my thoughts on the chances of doing that please click here.

Archie should have been going back to school today.. He is not.. Hopefully next week.. But..If only Covid Jabs were available to teachers?

Archie like most kids needs, wants, to be back at school.. Interaction and learning..

This fact cannot possibly still be true...

Every day more money Is printed for Monopoly than the U.S. Treasury.

Is it?

Today non virus video nasty..
