Norman Carter was a very happy man when his horse Samatain went past the post in front at Stratford on Saturday under a great ride from David Bass. Their forecasted ground was as good as they predicted.. that was a good start..Thanks Nessie

A deserved win for Norman as Samatian was meant to have 'done' the same at Huntingdon 10 days ago but racing, as you may well recall was abandoned after the second race.

Stratford are certainly good at looking after owners, and their winning connections... and they produced a bottle of their finest red for the trainer to celebrate with as they know from past experience that he does not really appreciate bubbles..

Racecourse manager Ilona Barnett was on hand to discuss prizes with Norman.. Winning owners have a choice which is excellent, so Norman, who has had a winner at Stratford two years ago to the day with Diamond Gait, chose a different one this time..
