Plus 10, damp and very foggy when driving in.

Heavy rain again last night but I cannot tell you how much as my rain gauge has gone.. Eaten/chewed by puppy…

A moment of madness is the only way you can describe Davy Russell’s foolish punch which was caught on TV. It was probably something that would have gone unnoticed bar for the Attheraces clip, but I am afraid that clip has now gone viral, as have the comments.

The sport itself must take this seriously as it really does not look good. Yes a moment of madness .. However Davy Russell must be punished and we must then move on..

Incidentally Richie Forristal, who used to ride for me, wrote a very good piece in todays Racing Post

Those flat trainers do have a chance to visit some great racecourses. Deauville over the weekend and this week York.. Big contrasts but two stunning racecourses.. Mind you those Jump trainers heading to Hexham today will say the same as it is certainly a stunning view from the racecourse, if it is sunny..

Harry Toppers owner Tony Solomons had a runner at Deauville yesterday; his Nearly Caught finished 4th. Harry Topper will be hoping for a wet winter..

Monday morning and fresh horses..

Ever hit a duff shot off the tee? John Cootes obviously does..

Peter tees off and scuffs the top of the ball and it goes about 60 yards. He turns to the pro and says, "What did I do wrong?"

The pro says, "Loft."

Then Russell tees hooks his tee shot into the woods. He asks the pro, "What did I do wrong?"

The pro says "Loft."

Finally John tees off and slices his ball into a nearby pond. He asks the pro, "What did I do wrong?"

The pro says "Loft."

As they're walking to find their balls, Peter finally speaks up. He says to the pro, "The three of us hit completely different tee shots, and when we asked you what we did wrong you answered the same exact answer each time..... What is loft?"

The pro says, "Lack of fu..ing talent."
