Plus 14 and dry when driving in.

Misty in the valley below although the sun is shining up here so a lovely day ahead..

Uttoxeter was rammed yesterday. It was hot and there were plenty of artwork on show.

Rhianna has run her last race. Disappointing all round as this well bred mare just cannot cope; a new career

On the way to Uttoxeter I called in to see David and Julie Martin’s Charbel and Minella Warrior who both looked well.

Both horses have been doing their road work and then spending the day out in the field. A slow and enjoyable way to start your training before returning here in August.

Good to see our old mate Darna who also looked very happy and relaxed in retirement.

I also saw Blazing Hills who was one of the first horses David and Julie had with.. Blazing Hills is now 20..If you were to be born a racehorse being owned by David and Julie means a home for life.

Friday night is not a evening to be travelling on the roads as they too were rammed.

There was some good news.. Listening to TMS and hearing Cook and Root bat brilliantly..  A good days cricket for England. Cook's 100 equalled Sir Don Bradman's total of centuries.. some feat?

David Bass was in for 3 lots this morning...Simon Goff and Charlotte visited the yard.

No runners from here over the weekend. Ascot today looks a good card.

If you have bought todays Racing Post you need to read Richard Hughes’s article.. Lingfield and drink.

Sadly all too many racecourse now have too many non racing people on course, who only appear to listen to the post race music; unfortunately some of their behaviour, which is usually drink related, is not attractive...Racecourses realise they make more money out of post race activities than their racing. Dilemma..

Why did I get divorced?

Well, last week was my birthday.

My wife didn't wish me a happy birthday. My parents forgot and so did my kids. I went to work and even my colleagues didn't wish me a happy birthday.

As I entered my office, my secretary said, "Happy birthday, boss!"

I felt so special.

She asked me out for lunch.

After lunch, she invited me to her apartment. We went there and she said, "Do you mind if I go into the bedroom for a minute?"

"Okay," I said.

She came out 5 minutes later with a birthday cake, my wife, my parents, my kids, my friends, & my colleagues all yelling, "SURPRISE!!!" while I was waiting on the sofa... naked.

Have a great weekend..
