Plus 8 and damp.. no, not rain sadly.

We worked Rocky Treasure, Silver Eagle, Alfies Choice and Laval Noir this morning.

Lizzie Wills called over second lot to see her horse Un Ace. Un Ace is an intended runner in the Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot on Saturday.

Keith and Liz Ellis were over fourth lot to see Abbreviate.

No Graham Potts, so Andrew Harrison was our vet representative this morning.

This weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts are..Forgotten Hero down 3 on the flat to 90, Trojan Star down 3 to 105 while Vital Evidence enters at 105.

Most proper jump racing fans will be waiting with bated breath to see or hear the result of the 3.35 at Chepstow this afternoon. Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Thistlecrack makes his much anticipated chasing debut..

I cannot recall another time when the Cheltenham Gold Cup had a favourite who had never jumped a fence in public before.

Thistlecrack's career has been hugely impressive so far.. he has won 8 of his 11 races over hurdles and there is no doubt that he has the size, the scope and of course the breeding to take him to the very highest level of the chasing game.. Very exciting and even more so if you are a Tizzard or Scudamore.

Our day takes us to Bangor.. at least there is a similarity as both racecourses are in Wales. Anyway we run Boy In A Bentley and Robin The Raven. Tom Bellamy and David Bass ride.. For my thoughts on their respective chances please click here.

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my old school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.

My wife asked, ’Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend.

I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?
