Minus 1 and dry when driving in.
Did you know it tried to snow in this part of the country on Saturday!!
Dandy Dan shattered the track record at Kelso on Saturday when he won their feature race..
The story looked good on paper when you read the results, but it could have been so different as at the second fence the leading horse carved across DD and firstly nearly brought him down and second nearly unshipped his jockey David Bass..
I am not sure how David stayed on and it took a while before he was able to get his foot back in the stirrup..
The shock of all that happening really shook DD’s confidence.. He is a brilliant jumper, but that forced mistake really threw him..
He did win well in the end, but the same horse who nearly knocked him over fell when just in front three from home leaving DD in the clear..
It was a great win for his owners Phil and Gill Andrews; this lovely son of Midnight Legend has done his owners and all of us proud. Hard to believe that he only won his bumper in May of last year..
Yesterday Wandrin Star finished 6th at Aintree and the Racing Post for once has it right when saying that ‘WS went up a stone for his wide margin win at Bangor and that told..’ He actually ran well, but the course probably did not suit and I felt he should have finished 3rd with a clear run.
I did not go yesterday as it was the Cotswold Team Chase and Pandora was riding and I was part sponsoring. A fun day and my daughter and her team finished 3rd.
Monday morning and cold..
Barbara Denning was here for a morning on the gallops which was an auction prize for Sue Ryder.
Philip and Sandra Arkwright were here late morning to see their horses Agent Memphis, Diva Reconce, Mr Macho, KBRP horse Vinndication and Another Venture.
Racing and football lost a huge supporter in Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who was killed in a helicopter crash over the weekend..
Lewis Hamilton..World Champion for the 5th time..
