Bloody hell .. The heavens certainly opened in Wales yesterday. Ffos Las went from being respectable soft ground to the opposite. Suited Time For Hollie who was an admirable second but not so Pipesmoker who was a gallant 4th.. Over at Straford I Spy A Diva rather lost her steering and went wide on the last bend and pulled up.. something amiss..

Very sad news to hear that my mentor in racing Harry Beeby died yesterday.

Harry was a true Gent and a man we all looked up to.. A legend....

Harry transformed Doncaster sales and later Goffs. Harry took me under his arm many years ago when I first started training and helped me in so many ways that I can safely say without his help and support I am not sure I would be here today.. well training wise anyway..

He encouraged me to buy the horses I liked and supported me through my career… I probably stretched our friendship over the years, but I never said the cheque was in the post.. I don’t think I ever let him down and he certainly did not me.. I shall miss his jovial face and it is with great respect that I say good bye and thank you…

Harry was a great man..Deepest condolences to his Elizabeth, Belinda, Caroline and of course Henry who now carries on the great name and tradition of his father.

David Bass was in for two lots this morning..

We don’t have any runners today but I do have a dentist visit!

While I was waiting to see the dentist, a woman came out of his inner office smiling.

Nodding to me, she said, “Thank goodness my work is completed. I’m so glad to have found a painless dentist and one who’s so gentle and understanding too.”

When seated in the dentist chair, I related the incident to the dentist.

He laughed and explained, “Oh, that was just my Mother.”
