30th April 2016

Minus 2 and dry when driving in.. The last day of April and I sincerely hope the last day of winter like weather.

Richie McLernon and Alfie Martindale rode out this morning.

We jumped Champagne To Go and Kilty Caul

Martyn and Sandra Steer Fowler were here second lot to see their horses Such A Legend and Fizzy Dancer.. They lease FD to the A&R Racing Club. Breakfast followed..

Yesterday during evening stables all my staff arrived in my office at 4.50 to watch Emily Gray run at Punchestown.

Emily Gray was hugely loved while she was here and it was testament to her that all my team arrived in my office to watch her.. They were mixed feeling for them seeing her run in Timmy Hyde’s colours rather than John Perris’s.. Anyway EG ran her usually tough race and all were happy to see her finish well in 4th

Talking Punchestown.. It is Irelands big festival and like Cheltenham and Aintree it is a special weeks racing.

I personally feel that it is sad that the racecourse don't make more effort to look  after owners (and trainers?)..Cheltenham and Aintree spoil owners and make them all feel very welcome..

I am not saying that Punchestown don't make them feel welcome as that is the nature of the Irish, but without with the tiny room run by Charles O'Neill, Sarah Gavin, Eimear Chance and others in ITM there would be no effort at all. They worked tirelessly looking after our needs, but sorry I felt the racecourse should do more..

Punchestown should take a leaf out of Cheltenham and Aintree’s book..We were crammed into two small hospitality boxes converted into one.. yes a small area and it felt like a sauna … it was though the only warm place on the racecourse when the snow sleet and rain fell..

Before you think.. moaning old git..I love racing at Punchestown and this week has been great fun as always.

Tomorrow is May 1st and not only would have been my fathers 102nd birthday it is also our Kim Bailey Racing Partnerships open day. 11am start here to see their horses and then lunch and a get together at The Cheltenham Park Hotel. Guest speaker is Matt Chapman and the whole day has been organised by team leader Peter Kerr.. It is what partnership racing is all about.. Fun and winners.. perhaps in that order?

We have two runners today and one tomorrow.. We venture on the flat at Goodwood with Nam Hai and Forgotten Hero at Newmarket tomorrow while Un Ace runs at Uttoxeter this afternoon.. For my thoughts on all their chances please click here..

Subject: soliciting?

A man was looking for a place to sit in a crowded university library.

He asked a girl: "Do you mind if I sit beside you?"

The girl replied, in a loud voice "NO, I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!"

All the people in the library started staring at the man, who was deeply embarrassed and moved to another table.

After a couple of minutes, the girl walked quietly to the man's table and said with a laugh: "I study psychology, and I know what a man is thinking; I bet you felt embarrassed, right?"

The man responded in a loud voice: "£250 FOR ONE NIGHT? ..... I`M NOT PAYING THAT MUCH!"

All the people in the library looked at the girl in shock. The man whispered to her: "I study law, and I know how to screw people.
