Plus 7 and dry when driving in.

Dry it was not by the time I made it home last night!

Racing wise Design Icon was a totally different horse to the one we saw at Huntingdon when he ran at Southwell yesterday.. DE finished 4th.. a transformation.... That was the good news of the day.. Subway Surf fell foul of race day protocols at Ludlow and the stewards would not allow her to run.

I am sure you are sorry to see that I finished tailed off yesterday..I am not the fastest as you well know..my mind probably elsewhere.. Blinkes next?. Won best turned out in the paddock..apparently

I was down at The Tattersalls Newmarket/Cheltenham sales all day and ended up adding two new horses to our string..

Trade was incredibly strong but I felt I bought two very special horses with the help and guidance of my bloodstock agent Aiden Murphy..

Anyway Aiden and I bought lot 215 Pay  The Pilot and lot 226 Hurlerontheditch..  Both horses are for Sale..To stay at Thorndale..

I was joined in Newmarket by John Perriss and although John did not buy we had a most enjoyable day out.. It was certainly good seeing people again; and Newmarket sales was fairly full of locals also looking to meet up!

Moving on...

I am sure you have read over the last 24 months or so that my stable jockey David Bass has taken the pledge, if you can call it that, to become a fun loving vegan.. I am not terribly sure which part of my last sentence actually covers David’s beliefs in life.. Fun loving or vegan?

Anyway..

As we all know, the pubicity shy David Bass has taken Veg eating to the extreme..His thoughts have been well documented..

David and I certainly do not have that many topics in common in life bar racing... Politics or eating habits..

Anyway passing all that aside...we have decided the time is right to launch a suitable cook book that suits both sides of our particular culinary tastes..

‘Eats Meats and Leaves.’. Don't you think it is a great title for our cook book? And huge thanks to Daren Bird for the cover.

David and I will penning/passing on our favourite dishes for charity…The IJF and David pet love Help Musicians..

The plan is to have the book ready for the Christmas festive period.. yes, you can name it..Meat, veg and plenty to drink.. the old fashioned festive cheer......?..  Eats Meats and Leaves!

We have a busy day today, all being well ground wise.

We run three horses running at Ffos Las.. Those Tiger FeetDuke Of Earl  and Donnie Brasco

At Wetherby we run The Bull Mccabe, Lord Apparelli and Station Master and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.
