National Hunt Trainer Kim Bailey is organising a racing
syndicate, The Heroes Partnership, to raise money for forces
charity
Help
for Heroes. Kim was made aware of the plight of the injured
when his former amateur jockey and friend, Guy Disney, lost his
foot and the lower part of his leg in Helmand Province earlier
this year. Kim has become a keen supporter of Help for Heroes
and is determined to do his bit to support the many servicemen
and women returning from duty with life changing injuries. Kim
is joined by Caroline Smail - an above knee amputee who is
passionate about helping the war wounded - Bloodstock Agent
Aidan Murphy and Kerry Maxwell all of whom are hoping to raise
significant funds for the charity.
The partnership will be made up of a
maximum of 100 shares at a cost of £5,000 per share . The first £1,000
of each share will go directly to Help for Heroes and the rest
will be used to purchase the horses, cover training fees,
insurance and all additional expenses (you can send two cheques
one for £4000 and the other for £1000 so you can use the benefit
of gift aid). In January 2010 the
syndicate will purchase three or four horses which will be
trained by Kim at his yard in Gloucestershire. The partnership
will run until May 2011 when the horses will be sold at the
Doncaster Bloodstock sales.
Help for Heroes was set up in October 2007 by Bryn and Emma
Parry who were inspired to help injured servicemen and women
after a particularly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in
Birmingham. The charity aims to raise funds to support
servicemen and women injured in the line of duty and to help
them lead as near normal life as possible.
Since its inception Help for Heroes has raised £30,997,000,
approximately £1,000,000 per month. £23,526,000 of that money
has been allocated to various services initiatives, one of which
is the new swimming pool, two gyms and a research centre at the
tri-services rehabilitation centre, Headley Court. Once the
money is raised the charity consults experts in the Army, Navy
and Airforce on how best to spend it.
The charity’s current appeal is for £10,000,000 to build a
number of Army Recovery Centres that will guide and support the
injured back to the army or an appropriately skilled civilian
life. The process of adapting to normal life is one of the most
important aspects of rehabilitation as it makes the difference
between living and existing.
Help for Heroes is about supporting our troops, it is about
ensuring they receive the best possible care and are able to
come to terms with their injuries and live as near to normal
life as possible. The Heroes Partnership is a way of thanking
those who have put their lives on the line on our behalf and
supporting those whose lives have changed forever.

Eastern Supreme
Eastern Supreme is a very tall
attractive gelding who won his debut bumper at Market
Rasen earlier this year very impressively.
He then finished 3rd under a
penalty on a track that certainly wouldn't suit him
(Musselburgh) behind an extremely highly thought of
winner.

Behindcloseddoors
Behindcloseddoors is a big strong
three years old who ran very green on his first run at
Huntingdon where he finished 4th.
He then ran five days later at
Lingfield and won extremely impressively. He
travelled in the race well and then stretched clear to
win well.
