JULY 2016 NEWSLETTER
Dear All
Another month goes by and here we are in the middle of summer.. what summer? 21 days it rained during June which certainly did not help my horses, especially the ones we hoped to run on fast ground; and then most we ran finished second. For those of you who know me well, second is not a place I enjoy however well the horse has run.. I must grow up and except?
The good news is that all the horses who have been on holiday have had a good one and look so well. There is nothing more rewarding than walking around the fields of an evening talking to and watching those 4 legged friends who have worked so hard during the winter enjoy their rest.
Rest was in June and now that we are in July all the horses are leaving their paddocks and returning to the yard. Time to dream and time to start planning.. Winter is coming and all is so exciting.
On that happy note I will be back in touch next month.
JUNE UPDATE
June has been a quiet month runner wise with only fourteen. We had one winner and five seconds!
Our June winner was Sonneofpresenting at Southwell. Sonneofpresenting and David Bass jumped off in front and they looked to be enjoying themselves when still out in front turning for home..
They jumped the second last in front but they were soon overtaken and we looked booked for second place.. Hurdles and fences are for jumping and Mr McGuiness, who was by then well in charge, fell at the last leaving us to be the winner..
Good to have a winner again and Paul and Clare Rooney were happy people after.
Sonneofpresenting followed up his win with a good second again at Southwell but this time was his first time over fences.
Policy Breach and Forgotten Hero gave the Martin’s and Dan Hall two seconds on the same day but at different ends of the country. Policy Breach was second in a novice hurdle at Newton Abbot where the rain rather ruined any chance of winning whilst Forgotten Hero was second under the now retired Kieron Fallon at York beaten the smallest of margins.
Our other two seconds were Vital Evidence in a novice hurdle at Ffos Las and Jimmy the Jetplane in a novice chase at Worcester. We were hoping that Jimmy would be able to give The Cool Silk another winner after their tremendous win at Royal Ascot with Prince of Lir but unfortunately the weight caught him out.
EASY 12 LENGTH WINNER!
You can now be the proud owner of the emphatic point winner Desaray, our new Kim Bailey Racing Partnership horse. An athletic looking 5 year old gelding is by top sire Milan out of a dam by champion sire Presenting.
He has an excellent national hunt pedigree being from the same family as Gr.1 bumper and hurdle winner Liss A Paoraigh, Scottish Grand National winner Baronet and Gr.2 Peter Marsh chase winner The Outlier. Desaray’s sire has produced many Cheltenham Festival winners including Champion Hurdle winner Jetzki.
This season Desaray will probably start over hurdles but is an exciting potential chaser in the making having already won a 3 mile Point to Point race, winning impressively by 12 lengths.
The cost of your 10% share includes the purchase of the horse, all training/racing expenses and is just £3844, followed by 22 payments of £235 from August 2016 - May 2018. Alternatively, you can make a one off discounted payment of £8799, covering the purchase of the horse and all training etc to 31 May 2018.
