OCTOBER 2016 NEWSLETTER
Dear All
That's September gone.. And what a quiet month it was on the runner front; not many runners and only just a couple of winners. We had hoped to have made it to the end of September with 15 winners on the board, but annoyingly we just missed out.
Our annual owners Open day was a huge success. Very fresh horses which made the parade of horses daunting to watch for the trainer, although everybody else thought it was a case of high spirited horses showing off their well being. My staff turned out the horses, and themselves, to a high standard and I can only thank them for all their hard work.
As I am sure you know I always try to start a new Charity Partnership every year and this season we are supporting Maggies Care home in Cheltenham. What better way to enjoy the thrill of racehorse ownership with a one off payment of £6295.00 for a 25th share in two horses for 2 seasons.. and no further dipping into your pockets.
Not only that but for those of you who are longing to try racehorse ownership out but are worried about what others might say.. now is your chance. You will be helping and supporting a great local charity, so stop worrying and join. It will and should be fun and hopefully.. rewarding. Two lovely horses with potential.
Have a great Month. Cheltenham races start all over again next week. Winter is just about here and Jump racing takes centre stage after Saturday’s Ascot meeting.
I will be in touch again in November with further news from Thorndale Farm
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
With very little racing in September we had very few runners, however, we did manage to have two winners.
Patsys Castle won well at Warwick.
A great start to our new season. Patsys Castle who was dire over fences was thrilled to be back over hurdles. Jockey David Bass was his usual positive and happy self and rode accordingly. PC won well and will probably now be clobbered by the handicapper.
A great result for his owner Phil Moorby and Kathy Wadsworth who had flown over from Gibraltar to watch PC run. Yes a thoroughly good day was had by all.
A couple of days later Sonneofpresenting won well at Market Rasen. It was the first time that he has had his ground. Poor chap has been battling all summer with over watered or rain infested ground!
It was fine jumping display from him and David Bass looked to be thoroughly enjoying his ride.
Jason Maguire and Mat Nicholls had a good day there and were regally entertained by Chairman Bud Booth. We will miss him when he goes.
Looking for a horse almost ready to run?
Then this is your opportunity to purchase more than a bob’s worth in FIFTY BOB
A 5 year-old gelding by a good national hunt sire, Witness Box from the family of Gr1 Racing Post
Trophy winner Seattle Rhyme, Fifty Bob has run once in a point to point, finishing a very close second. The winner sold for £120,000 and like Fifty Bob has not raced under rules yet but the third is a winner over hurdles and rated 126! So the form is working out very well.
Fifty Bob is currently in full work and will be starting his hurdling career shortly, so please don’t miss out.
