FEBRUARY 2017 NEWSLETTER
Dear All
I have failed on the newsletter front as we missed out on January. Having said that I did not have much good news to talk about, let alone write about as my horses were suffering from a low grade infection which meant that we hardly had any runners, and what did run failed to score..
Anyway that is behind us and we are now back in action, which is good news. February has so far been a good month with 5 winners and Bandon Roc yesterday competed the hat trick of wins in just under 10 days. Yes happy owners and good for his two young jockeys as Conditional Mikey Hamill started the ball rolling when he rode him to win at Taunton and then Amateur Henry Morshead (son of Sam MBE) took over and he steered Bandon Roc to win last week at Huntingdon and yesterday at Towcester.
Hard to believe it but The Cheltenham Festival is only a month away and the racing world is gearing up for 4 days of festivities. Charbel, who has missed most of the winter is our main hope and he looks like heading to take on the mighty Altior in the Arkle Chase on the first day. We will have other runners but mainly in handicaps..
If you are looking for accommodation for the festival please look on my links pages as we have various places that might suit your needs.
Anyway good to be back with the winners coming in, we are smiling and spring is in the air .. See you in March
DECEMBER & JANUARY UPDATE
Thumb Stone Blues was our first winner of December. We are not sure who was more relieved that Thumb Stone Blues won at Sedgefield; David Bass or the trainer? This was David’s first winner back since his fall at Ascot in November.
Paul Rooney was on hand to see his horse win and Thumb Stone Blues who had decent form in Ireland won well and looks a promising horse.
Well done Henry Morshead.. Henry rode his first winner under Rules at Lingfield on Blazon.
Kim and Peter Kerr bought Blazon at the Goffs Doncaster Sales in May from Juddmonte. A good looking chap who has a fine flat pedigree.
Peter added him to the list of KBRP horses and he ran and won for the first time at Lingfield in a 3 year old bumper.
Henry rode him well and Blazon did his job like a professional.
Well done to his happy KBRP team of ''The Blazing Optimists''..Phil Andrews, Carol Bailey, Michelle Dudderidge, Kit Fleming, John and Veronica Full, Jim Gordon, Len and Ann Harvey, John Lawson, Richard Mordan and Andy and Sandy Page.
As you know we had very few runners in January so there is not much to report but pleasingly February has started with a bang which you will hear more about in next month’s newsletter.
NEW TECHNOLOGY ARRIVING AT THORNDALE FARM
By next month we hope to have our new Agricam set up. Owners with us will soon be able to watch their horses exercising from anywhere in the world thanks to a live streaming video camera at the top of the gallops. This has become possible due to Gigaclear installing fast fibre broadband in the area.
Kim with Policy Breach and the new fast Gigaclear broadband
Kim hopes that “When we install our camera shortly it will mean owners can watch their horses on the gallops in real time from anywhere in the world, which will no doubt keep us ahead of the competition.”
