APRIL 2017 NEWSLETTER
Dear All
March was a good month on the winners front with the horses running well. The Cheltenham Festival was a near miss as Charbel annoyingly fell at the second last when looking like he was going to cause an upset in The Akle Chase. Altior won but Charbel would have given him a run for his money..It was though a fantastic Festival with new Champions and bright new stars.
April is the last month of the 2016/2017 Jump season and all our eyes head to tomorrow’s race at Aintree. This years Randox Health Grand National looks as competitive as ever and we head the weights with The Last Samuri. Sam was second last year and we are hoping for one better.. It will be a record breaking feat if he were to but fingers crossed he runs well and comes back safe and sound..
Charbel also heads there to put the record straight.. a big days racing.
Have a great month and Happy Easter to you all
MARCH UPDATE
The Ffos Las team are hugely popular with John and Penny Perriss as they make them so welcome and on this occasion it was no exception when the Clerk of the Course Keith Ottesen and Racecourse Director Mark Kershaw were waiting to greet them when they arrived.
Luckily Dueling Banjos our representative just held on in the second giving John Perriss a welcome winner. Importantly Dueling Banjos was winning his first chase which was not out of turn. Another cracking ride from David Bass.
Thumb Stone Blues won the novice hurdle by 25 lengths, for owners Paul and Clare Rooney. Thumb Stone Blues was my 200th winner in the last 5 seasons.
At Huntingdon we had a bit of a shock when Braw Angus won the second race which was great for his owner breeder Iain Buchan who has been with me for years as an owner. The downside was that Fifty Bob should have won but for unseating Henry Morshead at the last when upsides in front.
Milord finally won a race. Milord has not won for a while and at Taunton he did the business well..
Helen Hibbert was the only representative of the KBRP who own Milord so she had special treatment and proudly led her horse into the winners enclosure assisted by the ever hard working Peter Kerr who runs all my partnerships.
Anyway patience is important in racing and Milord's other KBRP members have certainly been that so well done to Norman Carter, Vince Burmingham, Kit Fleming, Mark Hudson, David Price, Tim Richardson and Michael Wilkes..Henry Morshead again showed that he is good value for his 7lb and looks to ride better than his father!
I do hope you have enjoyed catching up on our news; don't forget we would love to have you involved in the yard if you are not already; we are just a phone call away.
All the best
