Plus 6 and dry when driving in.
I had a really enjoyable day at Cheltenham yesterday..
Ian Dimmer (M&C) asked me to talk racing and go through the card in Martin and Joanna Jones's box... I am not the best of tipsters, but I managed OK and I was quick to poke my nose in their box after my selection had won the X-country race.. Celebrations and happy faces.. Fun.
Having spent the afternoon looking at horses I ended up with one new horse at last night’s Tattersalls sales... Lot 23 Island Bridge.. A winning Irish pointer....He is for sale..So please let me know if you would like to own him..Come and see him..
The prices were unbelievably high, showing once again that there is no recession in Jump racing!
Mat had a disappointing day at Southwell where Lady Gwen did not enjoy her second start over fences. She has been on the go for a long time and probably now needs a break.
Mat's day did not improve as poor Ciaran Gethings dislocated his shoulder on Emma-Jane Bishop's Force De Frap and Mat drove him down to Gloucester Hospital..
Saturday morning and day two of the November meeting at Cheltenham..
Certainly, busy here this morning as Stuart and Lucy Ballantyne are celebrating their 60th and 50th birthday respectively and are hosting a load of friends to a weekends racing.
Stuart and Lucy and friends are starting their day with a morning on the gallops here… all 60 of them..Mrs B with her Mothers help are providing bacon butties to all..
Stuart who has been involved in KBR for several years was so touched by the way The Injured Jockeys helped Lauren Hawkins after her horrific fall at Worcester that he has decided that his weekend of fun should include a big day of raising awareness and funds for this great racing charity.
So their day starts here and then they go on to Cheltenham where they have a large area for lunch and fun for the days racing at Cheltenham, and then after they will all go to now famous Kemble Brewery pub for supper and an Auction.. Stunning lots.. Click on presentation..
Let me tell you this is no ordinary auction as the lots include tickets at Wembley to see Oasis and Cold Play..If you would like to put a bid in for any of the auction lots, please text 07886801119.. Please no time wasters!
Good news too.. Lauren Hawkins and her parents Philip and Karen will be with the Ballantyne's at Cheltenham and at The Kemble Brewery his evening..
John Benson, TerryBrown and Derek Eaton were also here to see their KBRS horses.
We have two runers today at Uttoxeter.. Mat heads there.. we run Land Afar in the first and Draco Malfoy in the last. Tomorrow we run Does He Know at Cheltenham and for our thoughts on all our runners please click here.
The tipster said this horse would walk in. It did, but all the others galloped.
I bet on a great horse yesterday! It took seven horses to beat him.
The horse I bet on was so slow, the jockey kept a diary of the trip.
On that note have a great weekend and see you on Monday..
