Nicholas and Jill Sperling were here third lot to see their KBRP horse Lord Apparelli and Sadlemor.

James Cowley was also here for a first visit to Thorndale.

The more I read of troubles in racing what with prize money, whips, gambling and the general lack of interest for the sport in government the more I hope that the new BHA chairwomen Annamarie Phelps is going to be good. She has a huge task ahead of her and wouldn’t it be great if racing could actually rally round her and actually help!

At the moment we have the betting industry telling us that they are  in turmoil due to the reduction of FOBs. The whip debate is as strong as ever and everybody has a different opinion.

The saddest thing about it all is the fact that our leading racing paper does not seem to support the sport it writes about. We have a great sport and a great product, we should be positive about it and promote it..
