Minus 2 and dry when driving in.

Mrs B and I had an excellent evening in London last night celebrating Teddy Grimthorpe’s 70th ..

I had many emails regarding the David Power Jockeys Cup

I had several emails suggesting that the two letters in the letter section in yesterday's Racing Post were correct

This email was from Andrew Sim..

Dear Kim,

Firstly, it is ludicrous..

1. Racing as a whole needs to decide how and why it promotes and shapes the sport - not bookmakers and their paid helpers in the media. It doesn't help that ITV talent is in part funded by bookmaker money - it is unthinkable that the likes of John Francome and John McCririck would have been allowed to feature in bookmaker adverts during a broadcast, as they are supposed to represent viewers' interests not bookmakers. How can Ed Chamberlin et al adjudicate on the rightness of such a bookmaker-led initiative, when they are paid by them?  This initiative is a prime example of how money corrupts. The corruption of racing by bookmaker-led initiatives is really quite sinister, dressed up as it is, as an unmitigated boon.

2. The Jockeys Cup is a wrecking ball that will smash the existing structures of jockey reward and the time-honoured traditions of the Jockeys Championship.

3. It will serve to concentrate power, which is already skewed towards a few leading yards.

Of course in defence of the above it is Paddy (David) Power’s money and he can spend where they likes and frankly the publicity they is likely to get out of these televised races is hugely beneficial.... As in all sports the big money goes to the top sporstman whether you like it or not.

People say that drinking milk makes you stronger.

Drink 5 pints of milk and try and move a wall.

Can't?

Now drink 5 glasses of wine.

The wall moves by itself.

PS.. If that was me then the wall would not move!
