Mark Bradstock’s memorial service was predictably packed and most stood outside the church. Excellent service and wonderful tributes from Charlie Brookes and Patrick Oaksey.

Patrick was excellent about the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Coneygree while Charlie told stories about his life sharing a cottage in Lambourn with Mark when he was assistant to Fulke Walwyn, and Charlie was to Fred Winter.. Anyway, most of the stories about their life together probably shocked the vicar!  We all knew Mark well so there was much laughter!!

Coneygree was on show when we left the church.. He looked so well at 17 years young.

My mobile had been vibrating in my pocket during the service.. On leaving, while talking to the new father Nico de Boinville, I saw that my missed calls were from Mat..

Apparently the ground at Uttoxeter was far too quick for Fair Frontieres and when Nico heard that he probably told his boss NJH and as a result their runner Kintail was soon announced a non runner too.

The wake was full of old mates who I have not seen for some time.. Good to catch up, but why is always on these occasions?
