Plus 7 and dry when driving in.
There was a decent crowd at Exeter yesterday even if they were short of runners. They even had a walk over in a 40k novice chase which again causes those in charge to wonder about these races. Sadly, the ground in this case was the problem.
Bendas Asking went off favourite for the mare’s handicap hurdle and although we were hopeful, we were not sure that nearly a stone higher weight from her last run when she won at Ludlow was going to be a concern..
The race was not run to suit as she was held up because she pulled.. the race pace was too slow and turned into a sprint. Not ideal and Tom Bellamy held his hand up after the race to say that he got it wrong..
She finished 3rd. Annoying yes, but what a great mare she has been to her owners as bar one run, she has been placed on all her starts.. The applause for Bryony Frost's win was like the reception the President Elect received for winning all those US States..
Tom Bellamy was in this morning to ride.
Our usual busy Saturday morning at Thorndale...
Mike and Jane Powell and Gill and Bert Biller here for a morning on the gallops purchased through CD Tours.
Robin and Ashley Bloodworth were also here for a morning on the gallops.
Derek Eaton was here to see his KBRS horse Campaign Trail..
We have no runners today but we do have 4 tomorrow.

There was a farmer, who had three daughters.
He was really protective of them, and when he finds out that their boy friend's are coming to take them out, he locked them in their rooms and waited at the door with a shotgun.
The first boyfriend arrives, the farmer answers the door, and the man says “I'm Jo, I'm here for Flo, we're going to the show, is she ready to go?”
Seeing nothing wrong with him, he let's the first daughter go.
The next boyfriend comes to pick up the second daughter. The farmer answers the door and fella says “I'm Eddie, I'm here for Betty, We are getting some spaghetti, is she ready?”
The farmer begins to lighten up, and let's his second daughter go. At this point he's confident that these men are good for his daughters.
The third boyfriend arrives. The farmer answers the door, and the third boyfriend says :'Hi, I'm Chuck.”
The farmer shot him immediately.
Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.
