Plus 14 and dry when driving in.
Safe to say that yesterday was a very special day for the Bailey family. How proud was I to see Archie receive his cap for being picked and playing for Gloucestershire First X1.
I left home yesterday not knowing if Archie was picked to play, but then Nick Cook rang to give me the good news..Not only picked, but Glos were fielding first.. so get a chivvy on!
Nick and others who know me well enough would understand what it meant to me and they also knew that I would spend most of the day on my own savouring the experience..
I said many years ago that if Archie ever played at Lord's, he would need water wings to get to the wicket.. nearly needed..
It was great experience and although Archie failed to get a wicket he bowled well and tried his hardest. I was just so proud..
Lords is the home of cricket and as a playing member of old it is a very special ground to start your career on..
It has been a dream of mine to play at Lords and that was something I never achieved even when I played for the MCC all those years ago.. the nearest I came to playing on a major county ground in London was the rival ground The Oval..
All I can say is thank you for the support and Mrs B and I thank you for all the messages. yesterday was right up there for my best sporting moment..
Mentioning The Oval.. England were beaten by Sri Lanka.. It was not a game England should be proud of.. At least the Ladies team showed their spirit by beating Ireland in their ODI yesterday
Tuesday morning brings in our usual vet visit and this week' movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts was Samatian who entered at 67 on the flat which I feel is very harsh..
To finish happy birthday to one of my longest serving owners John Perriss..
