Plus 2 and dry when driving in. A colder brighter start today! Frost on the windscreen..
Monday was a day in the office catching up with Sandie my accounts guru.. Sandie is always in on a Monday morning.. she can work at remotely from home and I just think she comes in once a week to keep an eye on me!?
Tuesday and we have our usual vet visit and this week’s movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts were.. Brendas Asking down 1 to 109, Destroytheevidence up 2 to 137, Jeudidee down 3 to 101, Shantou Express up 4 to 114 and The Kemble Brewery up 2 to 125.
We have just the one runner today at Leafy Lingfield.. Yes, leafy because it was before the great storm of 87.. They lost all their trees in the middle of the racecourse, and it has never been the same since.
Anyway, moving away from your history lesson .. we run probably the unluckiest horse in the yard.. Hurlerontheditch heads there and for our thoughts please click here.
Harking back over the past..
Some years ago, I was driving around Ireland with Michael Stroud looking at horses when we ended up staying in a hotel slightly off the beaten track.
When I finally went to bed, I realized there was no remote control for the tv, so he called reception to ask for one.
Five minutes later, knock at the door and the manager appeared with a remote in his hand. "here you go. It doesn't work, but it's better than nothing..."
I didn't know what to say and the manager couldn't understand why I was struggling to contain his laughter..
Michael Stroud chocked over his breakfast when I told him the following morning..
Oh how I miss those tremendous trips looking a horses in Ireland with Michael.. there was never a dull moment!
Please note the hotel was not the Dunraven Arms.. I have other stories about staying there.. one day!!.. It was some years ago, but I can hardly recognised the hotel in their website.... Whatever I am sure it is still a great place to stay..Still run by the brothers Murphy.. Bryan and Louis..
