Plus 9 and dry when driving in.
3 days in Scotland fishing with mates.. what better way to spend time ..
Nicky and Sophie Henderson asked Clare and I to join them at Knockando and what a treat.
We arrived and the house was full, so we were able to watch England beat The Netherlands with a supportive and patriotic crowd.. A good way to start the party?
Willie and Caroline Jenks and Hamish Alexander were staying, although they trooped off home on Thursday to Shropshire or France leaving Charlie and Caroline Barrett, The Henderson’s, and us to enjoy the river.. So beautiful.
Clare struck early and caught a whopping 17lb fresh salmon while I over the trip caught three.. Infact we all caught fish, well not quiet true and Caroline B lost 4.. there were 16 for the week...one small one was kept for the BBQ..The rest returned to the river..We were so well looked after by the excellent ghillie's Archie Baillie and his son Mark..
We fished from 9.30 until dark at 11.. Full on, with breaks in the much needed times! Plenty of banter and not a great deal of horse talk..even after a few drams of the local brew..
There is something remarkably relaxing about being on a river and especially in Scotland. It is a time to savour the beauty and frankly you really would not know what was happening in the outside world.. Probably helped by the fact that I dropped my phone late at night having just left the river, and it was probably run over by the time Nicky found it in the morning..so I was very much out of contact.. something Nicky said he could not cope with!!.. Anyway I am sure Vodafone will delivery a new one tomorrow and until then I have now moved my sim in an old phone found in the office...
Back home in time to watch Spain beat England in the Euro's Final.. having listened to the men’s Wimbledon final on the way down.. Yes a good weekend for Spain..
Monday morning brings in another batch of horses from the fields below.
Paul Martin was here to see his KBRS horses Percy Veering, Phantom Getaway and Moon Rocket.
It is Gerald Clinton’s Memorial service this afternoon at 2.30 in Exeter Cathedral
I hope Keith Ellis enjoyed his birthday yesterday... he certainly deserved to.
Thought of the day..
Maybe if we tell people that the brain is an App. They might start using it!
