Plus 12 and dry when driving in.

That was a day and a half!! Very nearly a huge double??

Archie was included 13-man First X1 squad for Gloucestershire against Leicestershire yesterday… A first..

Sadly, half an hour before the game started we found out that he was not playing..

Poor chap was so disappointed, as were his parents.. We were all so excited that he might have made his first team debut at Bristol.. Having said that he should be very proud that he made the list.. hopefully, he will be included in a game in the not-too-distant future..

I really felt for him.. It was a bit like a 7lb claimer, who had worked his butt off to get a ride but when changed and ready to weigh out, the trainer suddenly found that Harry Cobden was available and changed plans!! ...Not sure that is the right analogy, but I am sure you get my drift?

Talking changed plans.. My daughter Pandora delivered triplets yesterday in the John Ratcliffe..

All rather rushed as you can imagine and arriving far earlier than due, but thankfully the 3 baby girls have arrived into this world all healthy and well, as is their mother, although she is physically drained and exhausted...

It was very much hands on deck with doctors and nurses rushing around the place.. The NHS were brilliant..Panda's husband James was there to be by her/their side..

Not sure after such a traumatic day where today will take us??

Plenty of controversy about the HRI decision to ban top trainers from competing in 60 races... Unsurprisingly the 4 in question are not happy!

Sadly it is a sorry state that Irish racing needs to think of doing this.. It is a form of desperation, but Irish racing is so top heavy that frankly outside the top 4 you hardly hear of another trainer..There is plenty of chat about the state of English jump racing but I am afraid Irish racing is in many respects in a worse state and perhaps something does need to be done about it.. but everybody has the right to choose who they want to train their horses..

The run of the mill races and novice hurdles in Ireland fill, but when it comes to the big races and big meetings then we see all too often the big 4 taking over....It will change naturally, but penalising success is not a great look.

To finish.. Happy birthday to Simon Claisse....Tight lines simon..
