Busy times here, horses upping their work and runners on the horizon, we need plenty of rain though..
We are so lucky to have great suppliers, Dodson and Horrell supply our racehorse cubes for the horses main feed and our Haylage comes from Robert Baillie and you can set your clock by it…
I went up to see them a couple of summers back and found it really interesting, the guys on the farm could tell me what grass was used, what fertiliser was used, and how many bales came off first and second cut going back years…attention to detail was unreal and it’s no wonder they consistently send out top quality Haylage…
With it being a pretty dull flat season, (in my opinion,). I’ve spent a few afternoons watching Jeremy Clarkson’s farm and I must say it’s been great viewing and really brings home how hard it is for the people out working the fields…
I must say last weekends racing was an exception and William Haggis holding his nerve and missing all the big summer targets to bring back Economics for the back end of the season big targets and land the Irish champion stakes was sensational and really shows how patience and nerve can be rewarded with the more backward types…
...and as for the St Ledger, a brilliant race dominated by Ballydoyle…AOB is a genius who seems to get better and better, the consistentcy of big winners year after year is unparalleled, but I do find it odd that his dominance is billed as genius but Willie Mullins coming over and winning big races and the trainers title is a disaster for British racing…
I can’t go without mentioning the football, a great start to the season for Forest and a win at Anfield for the first time since 1969 made for a brilliant weekend and shows how hard it is when you have to go there and play 12….
