Plus 7 and dry when driving in. The sun is out..
Rain here over the weekend was 15mm, but Worcester down the road had 2mm and Stratford 5mm.. so localised and not very helpful if you want to run a horse who wants winter good ground, not summer good ground….
I have a problem with Clerks of the course who are too frightened to add the word good to firm into their ground descriptions..
The going descriptions should now be described as ‘winter good’ ground and ‘summer good’ ground and believe me there is a huge difference.
Stratford by their own admission is summer good ground and are watering to maintain, which is basically means that is good to firm in places..
It is very confusing for owners who read the word 'good' and then trainers take their horse out because they believe it is faster, having walked the course.
It happened at Uttoxeter 2 weeks ago when Mat took Fair Frontieres out as it was far quicker that forecasted good ground....
Good ground desciptions should now change to 'summer good ground' and 'winter good ground'.. Not great for our chasers/ hurdlers as you never know what to expect, although we soon learn what Clerks to trust..
Do you have problems when getting up at the moment with your winter/summer jumpers/jerseys??
Bloody hell for a moment I thought Australia were trying to lose to Scotland.. It was certainly a hairy day for England as rain played a huge part in so nearly sending us home..England did beat Namibia in a silly rain-soaked game and then had to watch Australia and Scotland and for one moment Scotland looked like winning..Anyway England are through to the super 8s..
Euros.... England won athough I cannot say it was good game to watch. Mat says England are slow starters?
Golf. US Open.. Rory second!
Tennis. Boulter beat Raducanu....Jack Draper won his first ATP Tour win in Stuttgard.
Mat went early doors to walk Worcester racecourse.. declarations are at 10am this morning..
David Shuttle called in to see his KBRS Does He Know..
Graham Potts was here this morning to flu vac all the horses in the fields..
British humour can be hard to understand?
In WW2 the Germans built a false airbase, wooden buildings, wooden aircraft etc as a decoy target
A few days after they had completed it the RAF sent over a bomber and dropped a single on it, which failed to explode.
When the Germans examined the UXB, It was made of wood.
The Germans were not amused.
To finish.. Happy birthday to Nick Cook..
