Plus 9 and dry when driving in...

Well both our runners yesterday ran with great promise.

Destroytheevidence running over hurdles for the first time jumped well and looks like a thorough stayer. Jumping the second last almost upsides the winner, he just ran green when under pressure to finish 3rd. He will have learnt a huge amount for that run.

Parc d’Amour was very free during his race and that was probably as a result of a really bad journey to the races. The horsebox was stuck in traffic on the way to Warwick and for some reason he was far from happy with all the stop start motion, although a good traveller normally this time he become very agitated!

Back to how he ran.. Gavin Sheehan rode him with great restraint and gave him every chance of winning, but he was very green when challenging at the last and went down by a length. He was probably the best horse in the race and a touch unlucky. Sadly the handicapper might agree as he and the winner pulled well clear of the third.

David Bass was in this morning and then he is off to Belgium for a few days with his Dad...

Bizarre that the season finished on Saturday and then started again 2 day later and now there is a break of no jump racing until Saturday. Ciaran Gethings went home to Ireland for 2 days, he could have done a week if yesterday racing did not happen yesterday..He is probably going back today!

We had our usual Tuesday vet visit and there were no movers or shakers in this weeks BHA handicap charts..

Kevin Clancy and Stephen Cannon were down late morning to see their hero horse Two For Gold and their new horse Amazing Cleni.. AC is a 3 year old youngster by Balko who they bought from the same home as TFG.. Tom Costello..Tom has been a friend of the Clancy family for years..

So pleased to see Oliver Sherwood’s good mare Queens Gamble win at Warwick, but in his post-race interview he told us that one of his best mates Richard Aston died on Saturday night.

Richard along with his wife Sally were hugely dominate and respected stud owners and providers of some lovely jumpers that they sold at the Spring Sales through their Goldford Stud…

The racing world and especially British breeders will be shocked and saddened as Richard was only diagnosed 2 months ago with the dreaded C.. .. All our thoughts go out to Sally and their son Charlie..He really was  special person..He will be hugely missed.

To finish .. Happy Birthdays to Michael Dulverton and Melanie Wilkinson..
