Minus 4 and dry when driving in.

Interestingly I spent an hour at the dentist yesterday afternoon and when trying to make polite conversation I mentioned what a shocking week racing has been through ..

I know it is difficult to conduct a conversation when your mouth has what feels like to be a hand thrust in it, but through my mumbling I talked about the Gordon Elliott debacle..

It was news to my dentist who had not read about it or seen anything about it..... I thought the world knew..... But unless it is a sport you are interested in, you perhaps did not bother to read..

Anyway..

The IHRB has been thankfully quick with the verdict on Gordon Elliott. Judgment done and now we must move on, learn and realise that whatever we do, we are accountable for.

David Bass was not in this morning as he was last seen heading to Kelso..

Ciaran Gething’s, Chester Williams and Harry Beswick were all here .. we worked a few..

Saturday morning were always busy here and especially with the build up before Cheltenham.

Sadly no breakfast guests or guests in general..

Stephen Beasley and his family were hoping to be here to celebrate his birthday.. Not to be.. but his daughters Charlotte and Ellie and Partner Jo have asked me to mention him..

Stephen loves going racing and has been going to Cheltenham for the past 15 years.

Stephen works in their local hospital (the Alexandra )and his family are so proud of him and his team for going to work to help with the pandemic.

'He looks forward to the weekends so he can pick out his bets. He can not wait for the races to be back open. Throughout the years as a family we have attended Cheltenham, Aintree, as well as all our local race courses. As a family horse racing is something we have always been around and we love a family day out to the races.'

So on that note happy birthday Stephen and enjoy your day..

We have three runners today.. Two For Gold and Sayadam run at Kelso while Java Point runs at Newbury and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.

This pandemic has rid us of meeting people and yesterday I read that Stephen Webb had died. I have known Stephen for years and last saw him at Cheltenham last March. A former Steward at Worcester and Cheltenham. A larger than life man you wiull be sorely missed. All our thoughts go out to his wife Kate and many family..

A Doctor was addressing a large audience in Tampa…

“The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.

Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG.

High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. However, there is one thing that’s the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten, or will eat.

Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?”

After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, “Wedding Cake.”

To finish.. Happy birthday to my PA.. Maddie Webster's birthday tomorrow..Have a good one Maddie.. at least you are not working!
