Plus 12 and dry when driving in.

A winner at Southwell yesterday with Commodore Barry made up for those annoying three seconds last week.

Hugh Nugent was having his first ride for us and being a race for riders who have not ridden 20 winners we needed a strong chap aboard; having watched Hugh last season many times while standing with his father Charles I thought he was the man.

Hugh who was down here a couple of days ago to ride CB did as he was told and was never headed.. just.. as he won  by a neck..It was Hugh’s first win as conditional jockey..

He was lucky to get the ride as Ben Love will be my conditional jockey once he has passed his jockey course at the BRS.

Happy days for his owners.. The Commodores is a KBRP run by Peter Kerr, but sadly not many of his owners, let alone Peter could be there.. But Anne Waters and husband Adrian were there to support, enjoy and pick up the trophy..

CB’s owners not at Southwell were Vince Burmingham, Brian and Linda Cognet, John and Laura Garrett, Caroline Swire, Angeles Kennedy and Chris Trigg, .... and Peter Kerr who runs the partnership was laid low with a virus and not feeling at all well poor chap.

Last night my daughter Pandora Lovett joined Clare, Harry and I.. We had a rare family night out in Cheltenham to celebrate and talk about last weeks wedding.. Kibousushi was the excellent venue.

Sadly I not sure when we will all be together again as Harry heads back to Sydney on Sunday.. I shall miss him..
