Plus 7 and thick fog when driving in.

We saw some great racing over the weekend and some fabulous Rugby…My weekend started at Wetherby where Allez Encore narrowly failed to gain some well deserved black type on her pedigree.. she finished 4th.

AE ran a blinder and looked like finishing second jumping the last but was just outstayed after the last. She has been a great mare for her GSTTKPA charity partnership. We still have a couple of shares for sale in this lovely progressive mare.

Wetherby was busy as it should be for Charlie Hall race day and it was good to see some relations. Nicholas and Jill Sperling who live near Kelso were down on the Kelso Races organised bus outing.

Yesterday we saw a fine performance from Barters Hill at Huntingdon who was hugely impressive when winning the race we ran Same Ole Trix in. Barters Hill won 4 bumpers last season and I don't many horses who have done that.. anyway he won yesterdays hurdle race supremely easily.. It was a good race too..

Same Ole Trix was as expected outclassed, although his owners headed by Harry Bailey certainly were not. We had a fine turn out of the’ Young Pretenders’ as you can see from the picture on the right..Charles Woodhouse, Chris Hillier, Kate Trowbridge, Ben Rodger, Chris Palmer, Tom Cary, Marcus Morris-Eyton, Harry Bailey, Bruce Mason, Henry Larthe and Guthrie Brunton

Huntingdon were most helpful with badges, which was appreciated, although they have a new policy of not selling big bottles of wine.. strange one and attempting to buy my owners a drink when all wanted a glass of wine was slightly disconcerting when faced with 11 small bottles… It was soon rectified by finding the general manager.. Anyway I hope this is a not a policy which will last or become one that Jockey Club racecourses take to heart for all their racecourse.

Pandora and Archie Bailey both rode out one lot this morning.

Today we have a couple of runners today at Kempton. By The Boardwalk needs to put his disappointing run at Carlisle behind him and Dueling Banjos starts his new career over hurdles having won a bumper. For my thoughts please click here..

You probably know of my passion for salmon fishing and if you have 10 minutes to spare click on the link to view what I can only say is a proper fight.. It would be my dream to be able to have this sort of fight too.. although I would probably drown in the process..what a way to go!!
