Minus 1 and dry when driving in.

Frustrating is how I would put Net Work Rouge's run at Stratford yesterday.

NWR has so much ability but off top weight in a competitive race he was always going to struggle. He ran well enough and in time that run will show its true worth but he now heads to Tattersalls Ascot Sales next week a sound horse.

NWR will make somebody the most ideal school master for pointing or hunter chasing and has of course still a future under rules once the handicapper has dropped him a few pounds.

It was Stratford last days racing, their summer season is now over and the racecourse gets put to bed for the winter.

Sadly yesterday they said goodbye to Eric Harris who retires after being their head groundsman for the best part of 25 years. Eric was hugely respected by all trainers and handled all the problems the Avon threw at him with great efficiency ..

He will be missed, but then he will be here shortly re stuffing my fences..

Rain around? Rain forecasted? With that in mind Alfie Corbitt and Thibault had an away day.
