4th January 2016

Plus 5 and dry when driving in..

It certainly was not dry yesterday; it rained here all day and watching racing from Plumpton soon had me wishing I hadn’t.. it was awful viewing.

Sandown on Saturday was better viewing and the Veterans Chase was a huge success.

This is a wonderful series and the £100,000.00 final certainly lived up to its name.. 3 old boys showed they still love their racing and I for one did not notice that Tom Scudamore deserved to be banned or fined for his use of the whip.

Tom had a very willing partner in Soll and it was a great race to watch;  if I had not read the front page of yesterdays Racing Post I would never have known that Tom was in trouble.. Are we shooting our own sport down I wonder? Tom is understandly furious ..

Even more exciting viewing was watching Ben Stokes hit that red ball all over the ground in Cape Town. What a fabulous innings.

Every Sunday morning I sit down and either talk to or email all my owners and those who received an email might have wondered what I was on as looking through them last night, several made no sense at all.. Every time Stokes hit another six my typing concentration went..

Talking TV again..Clare Balding was brilliant with her interview with Eddie The Eagle.. what a fun interview and it had me longing to watch his new film.. what an extraordinary chap. Fun is what has gone out of racings TV and that is what must return when ITV take over next year.. We need racing to come over as fun, as well as a sport.

One of the best bits of Saturdays Channel 4 was the sight of Nicky Henderson telling Willie Mullins to F Off back to Ireland.. tongue in cheek of course!.

I notice in todays Racing Post's Monday Jury Brian Ellison says that The Last Samuri will win Saturdays re scheduled Welsh Grand National.. He will not as he will not be entered, let alone run.. The Last Samuri wants good ground!

Monday morning and fresh horses.. we like that.

We have two runners this afternoon at one of my favourite racecourses Ludlow.

Texas Forever, who Aiden Murphy and I bought off Nina Carberry at the December Cheltanham sales after he won his only point to point, runs in the maiden hurdle while Crazy Jack runs in the 3 mile handicap hurdle.. For my thoughts on their chances please click here..

Now that we are into January we have a new owner of the month.

Vince Burmingham, who lives in Ludlow and runs the award winning Residential Home Hendra House answers our questions..Vince has shares in several KBRP horses... Silver Eagle, Milord, Knockanrawley, Bolavard King, Ascotdeux Nellerie and Silver Kayf

If you are bored tonight then you can listen to me being grilled by Matt Chapman on this ATR programme .. 6.45 onwards I believe..

The World Darts Final was last night... made me think of this..

Wally..What you doing on the computer, she asked.

Looking for cheap flights, I said.

Oh I love you, she said, then she got all excited, quickly undressed and we had the most amazing sex in ages.....

Which was odd really, she has never taken an interest in darts before..
