Plus 5 and dry when driving in.

I really am fed up with this weather.. Our local rag is saying the beast from the east is reappearing, but then you read it.. is it all scare mongering..

Having said that Newbury racecourse sent an email to trainers warning that their current ground is good and drying for next Saturdays big meeting and they are unable to water

''We wanted to give you advance notice of the likely ground conditions ahead of next week’s Betfair Super Saturday race meeting here at Newbury.   The ground at the moment is Good. The forecast currently suggests there will be little or no rainfall in the run up to racing and there will be subzero temperatures overnight next week which may also require us to cover the track.

If it does not rain, we wanted to let connections know that we will not be able to irrigate the track for this fixture.   Our Environment Agency license, which governs the ability to water the course, does not allow Newbury to abstract water for irrigation during the months of December, January and February.

Historically, there has never been a need to irrigate during this time of year, the Going for this fixture in 2022 was Good to Soft, Good in places, 2021 Good to Soft, Soft in places, 2020 Good, Good to Soft in places, 2019 equine flu, 2018 Soft.''
