Plus 9 and raining when driving in..

All jump meetings washed away yesterday. Easter Monday is always a big day for racecourses and all gone.. I don’t recall another Easter like it.

For those die hards whose day could not be without jump racing were able to watch racing from the two meetings in Ireland. Wet they were too and it was an afternoon of watching boxing. The early bouts were small fields and the main event was a  colossus of 30.

They whole afternoon was about Elliott and Mullins and the big match the Irish Grand National was a winner take all event, only matched by those lucky enough to watch the Joshua fight on Saturday night… Mat Nicholls did..

What a race to watch.. not so sure I enjoyed it as it gruelling to say the least, but if you sided on Mullins then you watched Bellshill and for Elliott you watched for red colours of Gigginstown which was not so easy as they were probably brown ..

The last fence set the race up for Elliott as Bellshill floundered and jinxed left taking some of the possible dangers with him. 5 horses flashed (hardly) past the post almost together.. it took a while for the photo finish to determine Elliott had beaten Mullins… oh and the horse that won was called General Principle… apt I wonder?

Jump racing in this country all washed out today.

We worked General Picton, Sonneofpresenting and Cascaye while the rest cantered.

Rupert Bell here second lot to talk about Gallery Exhibition and The Last Samuri.. Aintree special?

Graham Potts our vet was in this morning.. quite a bit for him to do.

This weeks movers and shakers in the BHA handicap charts are..Blazon down 1 to 109, Doctor Haze down 5 to 112, Lake Field down 2 113, Milord down 3 to 110 and finally Rhaegar down 5 to 120. Rather sums up last week!!

After such a wet weekend now is the time to look to this Sunday and with the weather forecast for warmer weather why not put the local Andoversford Races in your diary. Our local point to point is always a fun event.. Come along and support..
