The Oaks was run in pretty difficult conditions yesterday and that did not stop a very impressive winner for John Gosden and Frankie Dettoi with K Abdullah’s Enable.

Talking difficult conditions all Aiden O’Briens horses had a BA problem when their plane that was bringing over his horses was delayed due to fuel spillage and his horses only arrived at 2pm.

Typically Aiden did not offer that as an excuse for beaten horses; most of the rest of us would have.. anyway he came away with a winner in Highland Reel and a second with Rhododendron in the Oaks, so his strangle hold of this years classics has been broken.

While all that was going on Clare and I were peacefully fishing Llandogo on the Wye.. No traffic or plane problems there just a lack of water and what was flowing was green and full of algae..

David Bass and Tom Humphries were in to ride out two lots.

We worked Sonneofpresenting, Forgotten Hero, Policy Breach, Jupiters Gift, Your A Lady, Milord and Robin The Raven.

We also jumped Robin The Raven, Forgotten Hero and Robin The Raven over hurdles.

John and Mandy Battershall  and their friend John White were here second to see John’s horse Younevercall and the new KBRP horse Involve.

Investec Derby Day and Poundland Hill.. Yes all the action will be at Epsom and who will win this years very open looking Derby.. 19 runners so more traffic problems . John Gosden and Frankie again for me.. Cracksman.
