Plus 13 and dry when driving in.

I know Monday is the start of the week but today is Tuesday..

The next few days are going to be very interesting… Explosive to say the least.... and yes that includes the fourth Ashes Test which starts tomorrow.. Smith back..

Between now and the weekend hold onto your seats!

Talking holding onto your seats.. we will start ramping up many of the horses work load over the next few days. Some of the early season horses will have possible race dates for early October and now is the time to start moving them on.

Todays Racing Post leads with an article about retrained racehorses and the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre being short of money due to the way racing funds it.

John Sexton, who is Chairman of BTRC, and Di Arbuthnot of ROR seem to have an opposite views on the subject.

We make sure our horses, when they retire, have good homes and many go onto win ROR classes or go team chasing, eventing, showing or just plain hunting.

We pride ourselves that we look after our old horses, although sometimes it does not work out, we keep trying..

For example my old mate Harry Topper was a horse who did not fit into his new life with the first person who had him..

But when we rehome our horses we always say they must come back here if there is a problem, and yes Harry was returned..

Now Harry Topper has the best home in the world, based in Ireland with Kayleigh who used to look after him when he was first here...

Not every horse is ideal, but with perseverance you will win in the end.. it is important that we do.

A huge thanks to Mrs B, who is in charge of finding new homes for our ex racehorses..She works tirelessly to find new homes..

Not that any of the above will be something Ben Love will need to worry about today on his birthday.. 20 today...happy birthday Ben..
