Plus 9 and dry when driving in.
Thursday is our easy day.. Yes it is again for those horses who worked yesterday.
I recall writing on my blog some years ago that I thought the name for first big Cheltenham meeting was a mistake to call it ‘The Open’..
I felt ‘The Open’ was always for golf but that thought was shot down..
Now I see that 17 years later (bloody hell have I been writing a blog that long) Cheltenham have now dropped that name as the guardians of Golf, The Royal and Ancient, have discussed with Ian Renton or persuaded Ian (if that is the polite way of putting it) to change the Open meetings name..
The November meeting will now be called The November Meeting. Original thinking, but I am sure it opens up the possibility of a new sponsors name at some stage.. watch this space .. in 17 years time you might say.. yes I remember KCB mentioning that!
It seems to me that there is a great of thinking going on in this sport at the moment and not all to the good.. Professional stewards and the new non runner rules.. Ours is not to reason why?
September is a month when winter starts to appear but it is also the start of the last of three Tests matches at Lords today.. England one, West Indies one.. something which would have been a surprise a month ago..
A boy asks his granny, 'Have you seen my pills? They were labelled LSD.'
Granny replies, 'Never mind the pills. Have you seen the dragons in the kitchen?'
