Plus 6 and dry when driving.. Rain on the way? There has been some in Australia.. God they need it.

Wincanton on Saturday so nearly produced the shock of the Thorndale season when Rhosneigr jumped the last upsides and narrowly failed to win the 2 mile novice hurdle at 50/1. Yes another second!

Rhosneigr was a decent enough flat horse for Charlie Hills but his first run over hurdles at Huntingdon did not show much as he finished virtually last.

Having said that Harry Cobden, his jockey that day, returned saying that he was a nice horse and who would definitely win races.... we were not sure he knew what he was talking about!!

Well of course Harry Cobden was soon to be proved right..

Rhosneiger loved the softer ground and the slower gallop and looked all over a winner.. Initial shock was soon turned to excitement.

Silver Kayf again showed the handicapper needs to relent..Jumping off in front he looked happy, but as soon as he was headed he slipped down the field.

My Saturday afternoon was spent driving locally and sorting a new tyre to replace my punctured one.. Malvern Tyres as always were hugely efficient.

Mat yesterday spent the day with Keith Ellis watching Chelsea.

Keith supports Chelsea, while Mat home town is Nottingham therefore supports Forest.. Keith had the better day!

Better day in South Africa and the cricket..

Christmas decorations down and we also placed Bear's ashes under his favourite tree in the garden at home.

Andrew Sim sent me this poem. The power of the dog.

Archie back to school. Holidays over all too quickly

Monday and some very fresh horses who have returned to training after a mid season break.

We have two runners today at Chepstow.. Miss Gemstone and Adjourned head there and for my thoughts please click here.

Some great confusions still unresolved

At a movie theatre, which arm rest is yours?

If people evolve from monkeys, why are monkeys still around?

Why is there a 'D' in fridge, but not in refrigerator?

Who knew what time it was when the first clock was made?
