Plus 3 and dry when driving in.

Espoir de Romay ran well enough to finish 3rd at Kelso on Saturday and later that night Blazon also finished 3rd at Southwell on the all-weather.. yes flat racing.

It has been a while since EDR last ran.. He has been wrong for a while and had a bad case of colic before Christmas which did not help our cause... In fact he did well to be ready to run on Saturday.. Having said that he looked like he might win jumping the second last and sadly lack of race fitness took its toll..

He has taken his race well and now he will probably head to Aintree.

I really enjoy racing at Kelso.. They look after you well and this year the racecourse, along with sponsors Bet365, splashed out by inviting owners of runners to stay at The Roxburghe at a discounted price, and gave them all dinner.. John Webber and Richard Sheppard took up their offer and thoroughly enjoyed their stay.. It was a very good PR exercise..

We had a full team of owners at Kelso which was good.

Blazon enjoyed the new surface at Southwell and ran well to finish 3rd at 25/1..Both of Saturdays runners won BTO awards.. well done team..

It was a long drive home after racing, but it was an enjoyable day.

Yesterday was my grandson Otto's christening and that was a huge success and a thoroughly enjoyable day.. The church was cold and The Pheasant did us proud.. as did Otto and his parents..

It is a small world as Clare was to find out.. She sat next to James's best man and now godparent Charlie Walker...

Charlie and Clare chatted away and in conversation the word cricket crept in, and it turned out that Charlie's company Walker Logistics sponsored Archie's kit when he playing in Sri Lanka..yes small world..

Monday morning.

Paul and Eileen Martin were here third lot to see their KBRS horses Phantom Getaway, Percy Veering and Galante De Romay

We have one runner today at Southwell, this time over hurdles.. Kyntara runs there and for my thoughts please click here.

I am heading to London mid afternoon to help out Matt Chapman with a Cheltenham preview, while Mat heads to The Wild Rabbit later tonight to host a table at their Cheltenham preview.

Know the feeling?

To finish.. Happy birthday to PA, Maddie Webster..
