Plus 8 and dry when driving in.

Like a great many things in life, it did not last long.. England were done for by the time my wireless went on at 4am..

Back to sleep to dream of winners, and yes we had two yesterday at Southwell..

Penny Perriss’s Station Master again showed that he was a decent horse to follow when winning his second race over hurdles. Progressive.. we like those sort of horses and delighted for Penny.

We were probably helped by the fall of Follow The Bear who was the favourite, but still he could do no more than win his race.

Station Master's win prompted this email..

Dear Mr Bailey, Great day!  I've never done this before, but I must ask you to give Station Master an extra big hug from me for his wonderful performance today.  Pretty good riding too! Best wishes to you all. Peter King. Reading.

The bumper was a slight shock when Two For Gold powered past the opposition 2 furlongs from home to win impressively.

TFG missed the break, so Richie Condon was sensible enough to sit tight and not panic. Waiting for the gap he set TFG alight and in a  matter of seconds the race was over..

Delighted for Kevin Clancy and his family who won this horse under the partnership name of May We Never Be found out Partnership.  The team consist of.. Kevin, Dermot, Conor, Mary, Michael, Patrick Clancy, Andrew Fundell, Matthew Proffitt, Stephen and Mathew Cannon..

Last year Kevin asked me to head to Ireland to see 4 horses at John Costello’s and asked me to choose one to bring home.. Mat and I went and deliberated..with John’s help Two For Gold was the one we brought back.. the other 3 have all run since and all have finished second in their bumpers this season.. 4 nice horses…

Mon Palois was 4th and would prefer softer ground and a more galloping track while at Lingfield Ben Arthur was second.. Not a bad day in the office?

Good to see Jeremy Bradbeer stewarding at Southwell. A studious chap who takes his stewarding very seriously but sadly his knowledge will probably be put on the scarp heap when the BHA remove amateur stewards.. Aussie rules...Not something I am in favour of..

David Bass was in this morning. We worked a few and jumped Another Venture, Carqalin, Cascaye, Cresswell Legend, Doctor Haze, Glenforde, Lake Field, Our Belle Amie, Red River, Rhaegar, Rockys Treasure and The Last Samuri.. A video of the horses working can be seen here and the horses schooling here.

We have three runers today. Sainte Ladylime runs at Haydock while at Ludlow we run Dueling Banjos and Sea Story and for my thoughts please click here.

Doug, Sylvia and Kirsty Wilks were here third lot to see their KBRP horses Silver Kayf and Dusty Pearl.

Records broken again in Newmarket Tattersalls sales.. 6 million for Marsha

We have a new owner of the month.. Keith and Liz Ellis.. a good read..

Talking Keith Ellis.. Keith, Listers in Cheltenham have lent me an Artic truck while mine is being serviced and you will be pleased to know it will knock spots off your Range Rover on a muddy field.. I am sure you know what I mean...

To finish. There is some good news re my Advent calendar.. Thanks to Sandra Arkwright I have a new Advent calender..
