0 degrees and snowing (not heavily) when driving in.
Another bitterly cold night..It was freezing hard when I took the dogs for their late night walk..but it changed early this morning.
Racing again was called off at the last minute at Ffos Las yesterday.Thankfully I did not have a runner there (luckily for Phil Andrews!)..
These late calls cause more aggravation than the racecourses realise.. the cost to owners when they can’t even go really does hurt.. Owners needs looking after and although they certainly want to see their horses run.. but when it behind closed doors..the added costs of racing being off when they are not allowed to go, really does hurt..It is a very quick way to sour..
Lingfield off today for us as the turf track was flooded.. The BHA have replaced the card with all weather jumpers bumpers.
David Bass loves these jumpers bumpers on the all-weather.. This frustrated ‘over weight’ flat jockey has one ride in the 2.20 at 100/1..sadly we have no suitable horses to run for his enjoyment, so we have a day at home.. Time to ponder on what will happen tomorrow?..
Precautionary inspections..Nothing precautionary..just inspections..Weekend prospects..
Graham Potts our vet was in for his Friday visit...
Caroline Swire asked me to post this..
"A plea from NHS staff. Please please please make sure you and your family all dig out your NHS number and have a copy of it it immediately to hand for when you or they are called for the COVID jab.
From my colleagues on the front line this is far and away the biggest bottle neck when it comes to administering the vaccine to as many people as quickly as possible.
You can find your NHS number on any NHS correspondence or through the app It would also be really helpful if you can share this message with everyone you know. Thank you."
Moving on..
The racehorse owner was annoyed with the running of his horse at the race.
He turned on the jockey. "Bass could you not have raced faster?"
"Sure I could have, but you know we are supposed to stay on the horse."
