Plus 8 and dry when driving in.
Yes it is going to be another scorcher…. Last week we had hail and rain this week we start off with record temperatures..
Had a long chat, via face time, with son Harry in Ballarat in Australia.. he had been racing there on Saturday, a mixed meeting of flat and jump racing the day before which he said was great fun, but jump racing a declining sport.
Talking sport. Aiden O’Brien might have won the 2000 guineas on Saturday at Newmarket but he finished last with Mendelssohn in the Kentucky Derby.. long way to not to run but 3 inches of rain certainly changed the face of the race.. watching you could only see the colours of the winner as all the rest were covered in dirt. Meticulous planning does not account for that sort of weather.
Our runner at Uttoxeter on Saturday Wandrin Star ran well to finish second.. yes annoying.. he will now go on his summer holidays.
We jumped a few this morning.. Robin The Raven, Dandy Dan, Royal Supremo, Net Work Rouge, Kayf Storm , Mr Macho, Diamond Gait and Minella Warrior.
We have four runners today. Red Spinner and Cascaye at Kempton and General Picton and Involve at Warwick and for my thoughts on their chances please click here.
Little boy gets home from school and says "Dad, I've got a part in the school play as a man who's been married for 25 years."
His Dad replies "Never mind Son. Maybe next time you'll get a speaking part!!"
