Dry it was certainly not at Sandown on Saturday.

The ground was stamina sapping and poor old Wandrin Star, who has such a good race record on good or good to soft ground, struggled on the heavy  ground, as did most of the field..So annoying as he was in the form of his life, but you can't beat the elements.

There will be other veteran races for him to contest later in the spring.. ..

I am a big fan of these races, and what’s more the public love them as they know all the runners as they have been around for years.. They are competitive races and who knows there might be one at the Festival when Cheltenham goes to five days!
