Plus 2 when driving in...

Here we are again, if you are reading my ramblings it always means Kim is away and no-one else could think of anything to say..

Where shall we start? Weather? Stick? All the usual things we like to moan about…

Lets start with the weather, very tough this season so far, no rain, then snow, then frost, then dry and now freezing again..not ideal and its been very hard to get any sort of consistency with the horses as a result of it, a constant  battle with the elements…it is the same for everyone though and those with plenty of top of the ground horses are making hay…We have had some great days racing though, to name a couple...Does he Know winning at Cheltenham in November under a huge weight was fantastic. We also took a lot of satisfaction from Bobhopeornohope winning at Ludlow after a herculean effort from all the staff to keep the show on the road after 8 inches of snow!

Stick…what a shambles, not sure how many multi-million pound sports have their dirty laundry aired on twitter but that has been the case with racing as the BHA twitter account has been taken to task by ITVs Matt Chapman, forehand, backhand, a farcical situation made worse by people not being able to agree on where a jockeys shoulder is, its beginning to resemble racings version of VAR..when will racing stand up for its product?

Speaking of VAR its been a great first half of the season for Forest and they have real prospects of staying up, a relegation fight not currently on the cards, unlike some so called big clubs, Leicester and West Ham to name a couple..

Racing got a mention on Jim White and Simon Jordan’s show on talkSPORT yesterday, I often listen to it on the way to race meets and I have never heard these two talk racing. Unfortunately it was about another negative story...Gordon Elliot’s horse failing a drugs test in the Champion Hurdle and taking nearly a year to be dealt with by the authorities, however Simon Jordan’s views on racings leadership where very interesting…maybe we need someone like him to shake things up a bit!!

For those of you interested I’m really enjoying being a Dad. Evelyn has been brilliant with Sylvie and although we have the odd jibe about her feeling like a single parent at times I’ve been home a lot more than expected with the weather as it has been..not sure i'd realised how much a smile from a baby could cheer me up after a tough day!

Back to the horses and we have plenty to look forward to still, lots of nice horses to run and some big targets to aim at should the weather gods allow..

Karen Masters and Mary Rolfe were in for second lot this morning to see their horses, Isle Of Gold and Does He Know.

Yesterdays runners at Southwell...Galaxy Moon ran a nice race for a long way before weakening. Design Icon ran an absolute cracker to be beaten into second. It was a brilliant performance from him and hopefully he can continue to progress from here.

Brendas Asking is our only runner today at Huntingdon. You can read our thoughts by clicking here.
