Plus 5 and dry when driving in.
David Bass certainly is back.. His third win in five rides...
The ride he gave El Presente was something to behold.
Confidence in each other and they took all the last 4 fences almost outside the wing and won a hard fought battle to win the Novice Handicap Chase…
David loves nothing more than a horse who likes being fired at a fence and EP answered every call… Two wins out of three for EP this season.. What a tough horse.. all credit to EP..
Antonia Davies, her Mum Bridget Chittenden and sister Millie Pilkington were there to support and cheer EP home. Sadly Antonia's husband Mark, Francis Brooke, Charles Yardborough or Richard Pilkington were unable to make it as only 4 owners were allowed racing..
The day started with Fubar coming to the last in front.. at long last I thought he was going to win.. but again he fluffed his lines at the last when it mattered..
Chester Williams rightly asked Fubar for a long one but Fubar said not.. They finished 5th.. So annoying as I am desperate to win for his owners Quentin and Christine Bevan..
Shinobi finished 4th and although on the face of it was disappointing David Bass came back full of cheer saying he needs further..
Ian and Ron Brotherton were there to support Shinobi.
The good news all three are fine this morning..
Exeter did the owners proud and again their staff were excellent.. many thanks.. Richard Marker and racecourse Chairman Duncan Sykes looked after us well, and walked around smiling and making sure everybody was OK and happy..
Posh? Surely not..
A ping on my phone and a text from Tom Lacey telling me to keep my hands off the posh blonde.. Not sure how my owner Antonia Davies would have liked that..!..
There was lots of celebrating from Antonia’s family as EP went past the post in front.. It was an extraordinarily exciting race to watch..
Downside of the day was message on Peter Kerr's phone from an irate punter calling him a crocked posh bastard.. Shinobi did not win and he must have lost money.. Not sure how he could call Peter posh..? I am sure he meant to have rung me?
Huge prices at the yearling sales yesterday..
Friday and we have two runners at Chepstow..
Red River and Illuminated Beauty head there and for my thoughts please click here.
