9th August 2017
Plus 11 and raining when driving in.
Hardly sunny August conditions .. It is now dark when getting up and very dark when going to bed. Winter on the way.
Yesterday was a torrid day at Goffs Sales. It poured with rain all day and the roads home were covered with surface water. I brought back Agent Murphy with me and I called in to see Rhaegar who is in pre training with his wife Annabel.. Rhaegar should be back here by the end of the month,
Anyway it was pretty dire stuff at Goffs and the prices reflected. I came home with a new horse lot 135 Winter Time who has been bought for a current owner in the yard who rang me yesterday morning to ask me to look at him.
I also bought back lot 155 Royal Supremo as at 12K he was far too cheap.. Royal Supremo is a good summer horse who will certainly be a horse to follow next summer.. Yes he is for sale..
Also arriving in the yard last night was Julie and David Martin's home bred Black Sam Bellamy 4 year Gelding. This fine big chap has been pre trained by Frankie Price.
Wednesday morning.. This would normally be a work morning but not at this time of year. Jockeys on holidays…
John and Penny Perriss were over fourth lot to see their horses.. John’s By The Boardwalk, Champagne To Go, Dueling Banjos, Lady Of The Night, Rocky Treasure and The Drinkymeitser and Penny’s Wanderin Star and Station Master all strutted their stuff up the gallops watched by David and Molly Lamb from Yorkshire who are currently staying with the Perriss’s.. Lunch after at The Wheatsheaf..
Sad to report that Clare's old horse Mysortofman has passed away.
Mysortofman has been living a wonderful life after racing with Sam Rose.. He has been winning and enjoying ROR classes over the years and was very spoilt by Sam.. Yes he had a great life as these old boys should do after racing.
Two young boys walked into a chemist one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.
The pharmacist at the counter asked the older boy, ‘son, how old are you?’
‘Eight, the boy replied.
The man continued, ‘Do you know what that is used for?’
The boy replied, ‘Not exactly, but they aren’t for me. They’re for him. He is my brother.
He’s four.”
Oh really? The pharmacist said with a grin.
“yes.” The boy said. “on TV they said that if you used these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can’t do any of these.
The above story reminded me that today is the ex jockey Jimmy Duggan's birthday.. Happy birthday Jimmy if by chance you are reading this from your home the USA..
Talking USA.. Danger signs from Donald Trump.. I just pray we are not heading down a very slippery slope with North Korea.. Not a great game of brinkmanship..
