11th April 2020

It was plus 9 and dry this morning.

Not much happened in the yard this morning. Horses needed mucking out, feeding and looking after. Two horses ridden out

Time for a chat to pass the day..

Chris Broad when gainfully employed books rides for 26 jockeys including David Bass, Sam Twiston Davies, Jonathan Burke, Gavin Sheehan and even Chester Williams is now finiding life more relaxing.. Chris is usually up at 4.30 every morning sorting rides for his jockeys and ringing trainers... His long suffering wife Jane must be so pleased with the extra lie in..

Nick Cook (shares is KBRP horses Younevercall, Hendra House and Balleticon) is very much in full lockdown mode.. No umpiring cricket matches for him.. Nick still dreams of bowling me out all those years ago.. that was after I had hit him for several 6s..! Another long suffering wife.. Shan had just retired from a senior Cabin Crew position for BA and now finds her husband at home all day.. Tough life?

Vince Burmingham (shares in KBRP horses Commodore Barry, Does He Know, Silver Kayf, Arthurs Sixpence, Subway Surf and Hendra House) runs the award winning Hendra House.. Vince is working from home while 9 of his staff volunteered to work 24/7 for 3 weeks to safeguard Hendra House residents. Sterling stuff..

Norman Carter (owns Diamond Gait and has a share in KBRP horse Voyburg) must be thankful that he has moved to just outside Winchcombe into this award winning home. Norman is able to catch up with all the news while social distancing the walkers as they pass his drive..I am sure he and Zoe are far happier here than when in their flat in Bath.

Robert Fanshawe might not be selling houses but he can still remind me that he persuaded me to but his wife Karrie’s horse First Flow..

Talking First Flow..Good to talk to Tony Solomons.. over 90 and living on his own.. hopefully watching reruns of all First Flow's races.. I really do hope so.. anyway..Tony Click here and scroll to the bottom

The bearded Mat Nicholls is also thankful that he moved to a new house with a garden.. most of my staff seem to be digging it during time off…Nico de Boinville and David Bass are two others sporting beards..they too have become lazy..

John and Penny Perriss are waiting for enough grass to grown in their paddocks so that their horses (Bobhopeornohope, Getaweapon, Hollymount Holly, Lady of the Night, Lots of Luck, Rocky's Treasure, Rosmuc Relay, Station Master and Wandrin Star.....Illuminated Beauty is staying here for summer jumping) can return home for their summer holidays.. John had taken yet another delivery of wine this week.. important to keep up the supplies John....

Talking wine.. there is one man I know who prides himself on having one of the finest cellars in the country, and that is Kevin Clancy.. Kevin likes nothing more than discussing his latest tipple when he rings to discuss future plans for his rather special horse Two For Gold.. Kevin takes great satisfaction from informing me that he manages to get 50 miles per gallon out of his Range Rover… He was last seen (before Cheltenham) being passed by a moped on the M40..

Tim Caven (shares in the KBRP horses Balleticon, Younevercall and Hendra House) sent this mesage over..Extra carrots for Younevercall please - It is YNC's 9th birthday today..Birthday card will be in the post once I can escape!!

There is a plan for a virtual celebration using Houseparty which will doubtless be messy.

The virtual Pilates class involving Mrs Cook, a couple of other Ladies and the one who David Bass mistook for Nick's mother takes place on a Tuesday.

They use Zoom, a recording might head your way.

Otherwise fruit and veg from south west Leicestershire should be plentiful given the hours NGBC has spent giving instruction to Nature..

We look forward to catching up at the earliest opportunity and wish all good health and sanity in these unusual and unexpected circumstances.

I don't believe Younevercall would apprectiate a scented candle as a birthday present.. But if you fancy buying somebody one for a present then I suggest  The Candle Company... They also sell excellent hand sanitisers..

If you have a spare moment I suggest you click on to TNDGB's web site to read yesterdays blog..Not a good read, but a very well written one.....

Happy Easter and please stay safe.. and at home..
