Plus 13 and tipping with rain.. Windscreen wipers doing double take when driving in.
It was bizarre weather yesterday.. Peter Kerr and I drove to Wincanton in pouring rain and it did not stop until we drove through the old village of Bruton, (3 miles from Wincanton) and that was the last we saw of any rain until we jumped back into the car and drove home .. and yes it was still raining in Bruton..
Two horses running that did not want rain so we were lucky; our first runner Tara’s Rainbow fluffed her lines by pulling up early having hit a nerve which meant that she lost her action and the other Ballyknock Lad won.
Top weight was going to be tough for Ballyknock Lad but this former Irish point to pointer always jumped well and having been the headlines of yesterday Racing Post write up I was staggered to see him go off at 8/1 in a four horse field.. Well done to Tom Bellamy who has started this season well.. it was Tom's 6th winner of the season.
Both horses are fine this morning although Ballyknock Lad needed a couple of stitches in a cut on his hind leg.
David Bass was in this morning.. He starts riding in 'races' again this weekend..DB has given up the idea of living in France.. that is until he is banned again!
We worked through as it was so wet riding out.
A first.. Yesterday I received the following email headed.. Good Luck from Lee Summers and the Team

Retraining Of Racehorses has been a huge success and what a joy it is when you see so many ex racehorses have a new life after racing.. Gone are the days when they disappeared and you wondered whatever happened to them. Now this wonderful organisation can be proud as 5 ex racehorses performed with distinction at Badminton last week.. Heard in an old peoples home..
80-year old Bessie bursts into the rec room at the retirement home. She holds her clenched fist in the air and announces, "Anyone who can guess what's in my hand can have sex with me tonight!!"
An elderly gentleman in the rear shouts out, "An elephant?"
Bessie thinks a minute and says, "Close enough."
