Plus 8 raining and blowing a gale when driving in.
Not ideal weather to start the Cheltenham Festival with.
It was stunning there yesterday. The course looking great and the ground just on the softer side. Clare and I had lunch in the Chez Roux tent with Sarah-Kate Byrne, Oli Bell and Francesca Cumani.. Oli promised me that I would be driving a Bentley 4x4 for the week.. it has not arrived yet..
It is only when you walk around the racecourse do you really see the last minute preparations. Painting flower boxes , mowing, steam cleaning pathways .. yes it is manic.
This morning we worked The Milan Girl and Knockanrawley.
Ian Robinson called in on his way to Cheltenham to see his Imperial Aura.
This weeks movers and shares in the BHA handicap charts were.. Cloone Lady down 6 to 102, First Flow down 4 to 140, Mon Palois down 3 to 120, Station Master up 2 to 135, Silver Kayf up 2 to 132, Two For Gold down 1 to 132 while Arthurs Sixpence enters at 105 and Those Tiger Feet at 97.
The Last Samuri is now ensconced in his new home with my daughter Pandora.
TLS arrived on Sunday evening and will now spend his retirement doing ROR and other exciting ex racechorse activities. He will have a fabulous home for life.. Lucky chap.. Lucky Pandora.... A huge thank you to Paul and Clare Rooney for giving him to Pandora.
Cheltenham this week will be manic and I just hope the weather does not spoil it. Big week for the Henderson/ Nicholls trainers title rivalry
We have no runners today but Mat and I will go through the card all 4 day so if you would like our thoughts on the winners please click here.
Geoff Thomas sent this one over..
An Irishman comes home from the pub with a duck under his arm.”where did you get that duck ?” Says his wife.
“I won it in a competition for the longest Todger in the pub.”
“But Paddy that is something sacred between a husband and his wife!”
“Don’t worry Mary. I only showed them enough to win the duck!”
To finish.. I thought this was a good Paddy Power advert..
